Wash the rice: Take a rice cooker cup and measure 1 cup of white rice. Clean rice thoroughly with Cold Water until all the starch is gone from it and the Water runs clear; this step helps prevent rice to stick.
Prepare the Cilantro and Lime: Finely chop fresh cilantro leaves. Then squeeze the juice out of fresh limes to adjust according to how tangy your dish will be.
Sauteing Rice: Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium-low heat and add rinsed rice, sauteing for approximately 2-3 minutes. This extra step adds depth of flavour and texture to this preparation step.
Once sautéed, transfer the rice to your rice cooker.
Add Water and seasoning: Add two cups of Water with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and cumin. Give it a gentle stir.
Cook the Rice: Close the lid of your rice cooker, select either its"white rice" setting (if available), or use its regular "cook" function and allow the appliance to do its magic. This process could take between 15-20 minutes.
Fluff and Flavour: Once your rice is cooked, the rice cooker will stop automatically. Open its lid and fluff it using a fork.It releases extra steam and prevents it from becoming sticky and soggy.
Add Cilantro and Lime: Add finely chopped cilantro and drizzle fresh lime juice over your rice to combine the various flavours. Gently mix all flavors.
